Therapy vs. Life Coaching

Let’s say you have a broken arm. Where do you go for help? You’ll go to the doctor where you can get x-rays, a diagnosis of the broken arm, and treatment for it.

Therapy is like going to the doctor. They can evaluate, diagnose, and treat the diagnosis. Some of the things they diagnose are depression, anxiety, PTSD, and many more. They are very good at what they specialize in. I highly recommend seeing a therapist if this is what you are looking for.

Life Coaches

Life coaches are more like a personal trainer. They don’t diagnosis problems or treat them. Rather they help you build up your muscles. Life coaches help you build up your ability to control your thoughts and process your emotions.

Life coaching is about helping you create the life you want to have. It can help you think thru any subject in your life. Some of the more popular topics are money, relationships, parenting, self love, achieving goals, and your career. Most life coaches specialize in one particular area, but can help with any area. For example, my area that I specialize in is helping women rediscover themselves after having kids while sustaining family life. But I have helped clients in any and all areas of their life.

Having a personal trainer helps to keep your body strong and healthy. While having a life? coach helps keep your mental health strong and healthy. Can you exercise on your own and build up strength? Of course you can. But a professional will know all the little tips and tricks to get you there so much faster. They also will know when you push you for optimal growth. The same is true with a life coach and your mental health.

It can also be very beneficial to have an extra set of eyes look at the situation. They will see things that you can’t. We get pretty attached to our story, and we think they are just the facts. When someone else looks at the same story, they can help you see things that you can’t. This can make for even quicker progress.

Life coaching can change your life without changing anything. You can enjoy your life without finding a new job or moving. You can find peace with the very kids that you have.
